HOW TO GET TO BAIA MARE

By plane
The Baia Mare airport (Maramures Airport: http://aimm.eu/en/) is opened for international flights (Paris, Beauvais; Rome, London, Milan, Munich), but the best connection from abroad is via Bucharest (Otopeni Airport: http://www.bucharestairports.ro/ or http://www.aeroport-otopeni.com/ / https://www.bucharestairports.ro/baneasa/ro/). If you opt for a stopover in the Romanian Capital, the domestic flights schedule (TAROM) is as follows:
- 4.09.2023: departure from Bucharest, Otopeni Airport at 17:40 – arrival in Baia Mare at 19:00 (Tarom) (cancelled).
- 4.09.2023: departure from Bucharest, Băneasa Airport at 13,25 – arrival in Baia Mare at 16,45 (Air Connect).
- 5.09.2023: departure from Bucharest, Otopeni Airport at 19:40 – arrival in Baia Mare at 20:40.
- 06.09.2023: departure from Baia Mare at 15:40 – arrival at Otopeni Airport at 17:00 (Tarom).
- 07.09.2023: departure from Baia Mare at 15:40 – arrival at Otopeni Airport at 17:00 Tarom).
- 07.09.2023: departure from Baia Mare at 12,40 – destination: Beauvais, France (Hi Sky).

The alternatives to the flight X – Bucharest – Baia Mare are:
A) X – Bucharest – Satu Mare (airport situated 90 km west of Baia Mare – https://www.aeroportulsatumare.ro). The flights to/from Bucharest are from Monday to Friday, and on Monday and Friday there are flights to/from London (Luton).
B) X – Cluj-Napoca (a city situated 150 km south of Baia Mare – http://airportcluj.ro/), from where you can also reach Baia Mare by bus (SC. FANY: http://www.fany.ro/orar; ~ 2-hour journey), according to the following schedule:
Departures from Cluj-Napoca: 11:00; 12:00; 16:30; 18:30; 20:30 (coaches also stop at the airport, across the street).
To return to Cluj-Napoca, departures from Baia Mare (from Fany coach station, 57 București Bd.) are scheduled as follows: 7:15; 9:00; 11:00; 15:30; 17:45.
There is also the option of international flights to Budapest; from here you can get to Baia Mare by coach (~400 km, ~6 hours; http://www.janositrans.ro/):
Departures from Budapest to Baia Mare: 12:00-13:00; 17:00-18:30; 1:30-2:30 (Keleti/ Neplighet/ airport).
Departures from Baia Mare to Budapest Airport: 6:30; 12:00; 22:00 (EUR 35/RON 170 / person, one way).

There are regular coaches that link Romania (and Baia Mare, implicitly) to most of the other European countries (see the websites of Atlassib, Transeuropa, Tabita Tour, Colibri Tour etc.).
From Debrecen (165 km): via Valea lui Mihai – Carei – Satu Mare – Baia Mare.
From the West (Budapest): the recommended route is M3 highway to Nyíregyháza, leading to the E-road, on the route Mátészalka – Satu Mare – Baia Mare (150 km).
From the Republic of Moldova (Chişinău) / Iași: the route we suggest you take in Romania is Iaşi – Suceava – Bistriţa – Dej – Baia Mare or Iași – Suceava – Borșa – Cavnic – Baia Mare.
From Serbia (Novi Sad) / Timișoara: (through Romania) Zrenjanin – Timişoara – Arad – Oradea – Satu Mare – Baia Mare or through Hungary, follow the route Szeged – Békéscsaba – Debrecen – Mátészalka – Satu Mare – Baia Mare.
From Bucharest (~650 km): via Piteşti – Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Cluj-Napoca – Baia Mare or Ploieşti – Braşov – Târgu Mureş – Reghin – Dej – Baia Mare.
